Why I Still Love Using Workbooks in Our Homeschool - Especially with Multiple Children!

When people think about homeschooling, they may picture messy science experiments, nature walks, read-alouds on the couch, and afternoons spent exploring whatever sparks a child's curiosity. Those moments are some of my favorites too, and they're a big part of why we chose this journey six years ago!

But with four children learning at different ages and stages, there are plenty of days when everyone needs me at the same time. One child needs help sounding out a new word, another wants me to check their math, someone has a question about a history lesson, and inevitably someone else has wandered into the kitchen looking for a snack. I've learned (and accepted) that I can't be everywhere at once, and that's where a good quality workbook comes in!

I started creating workbooks not because I want our days to look like a traditional classroom, but because they give us something every homeschool parent could use a little more of—flexibility. We've used them on rainy afternoons, while waiting for appointments, on the road, at swim practices, and even outside on the porch while enjoying a beautiful day. They're easy to grab when we need them, and I love that learning doesn't always have to happen around the kitchen table!

I don't see workbooks as "busy work." In fact, I think that's one of the biggest misconceptions about them. When they're thoughtfully designed, they reinforce the skills we've already been learning together, and sometimes they are exactly what we need on a day that isn't going as planned!

A workbook gives one child the confidence to keep learning independently while I sit beside another. It gives us a smooth transition between lessons instead of everyone waiting for their turn. Most importantly, it helps our day keep moving forward without feeling rushed.

The 21 workbooks you'll find in my shop are designed to bring together meaningful learning and engaging activities. They're meant to support your homeschool day, not take it over. Whether you use them as morning work, extra practice, independent learning, or something to keep little hands busy while you're helping another child, I hope they bring a little more ease to your homeschool routine.

I'd love for you to take a look around my shop and explore the resources I've created, including our popular unit studies! Every resource is made with the hope of helping another family spend less time worrying about what comes next and more time enjoying the moments that make homeschooling so special.
